Charles Hugh Rigney, age 91 of Rocky Mount passed away on Saturday, December 08, 2007.
He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Henry Lawson Rigney and Ethel Davidson Rigney; and by his brother H. L. Rigney.
He made many friends at Wickline Chevrolet and Gill Farmer Chevrolet where he worked for 31 years before retiring. Mr. Rigney was a devoted husband and father who happily spent his entire life in Franklin County and loved reading and visiting with friends and family.
He was a longtime member of Rocky Mount Christian Church.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 68 years, Christine Hunt Rigney; sister, Annie R. Kirk, Rocky Mount; daughter and son-in-law, Dianne and Larry Vest; daughter, Sue Rigney and her partner Joe O’Gore; son and daughter-in-law, Chuck and Ladean Rigney; grandchildren Tim O’Leary and Shana Rigney; step-grandchildren Rusty and Scott Vest; great-grandchildren, Joshua, Jenna and Jacob O’Leary, Jeremy and Alex Vest; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted from Floras Funeral Chapel 11 a.m. Monday, December 10, 2007 with Rev. Richard Geoghegan officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park.
The family will accept flowers or memorial contributions may be made to Franklin County Rescue Squad, P. O. Box 147, Rocky Mount, Virginia 24151.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
