Charles Lane Rogers, age 80 of Rocky Mount went home to be with the Lord on Monday, January 30, 2017 with his wife and daughter by his side. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Monroe and Evelyn (Underwood) Rogers; and brother, William Robert (Bill) Rogers; father and mother-in-law, Fred T. and Nadine Bennett; and brother-in-law, Lynn Schenk. Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Connie Bennett Rogers; daughter, Cheryl (Joe) Eames; granddaughters who were the love of his life, Katie (Russell) Thompson and Ashlee Eames; sisters, Dolores Schenk, Betty (Jerry) Doss, Judy Bradley; in-laws, Patricia (Patrick) Langston, Marcia (Mike) Childrey, Susan (Carl) Jensen, Charles T. (Rose) Bennett; his favorite cat buddies, “Big Boy” and “Baby Boy”; and his favorite little great-granddog, “Bobo”. Charles was a longtime member of Glade Hill Baptist Church and was a retired Area Manager for the Woodmen of the World Insurance Society. He was also a member of the Woodmen Life Chapter #89. The family would like to thank Dr. Suzan Merten and staff of the Blue Ridge Cancer Center and the Doctors, Nurses and staff of Lewis-Gale Hospital. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Glade Hill Baptist Church, 6608 Colonial Turnpike, Glade Hill, VA 24092 or a favorite charity. Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 11:00 a.m. Thursday with Rev. David Long and Rev. Lee Eames officiating. Interment will be at Alleghany Memorial Park in Covington, Va. His family will receive friends 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
