Charles David Wagner, age 77, went home to be with the Lord, peacefully on Wednesday, August 15, 2018. Preceding him in death were his parents, Horace Jefferson and Ocie Gay Wagoner; brothers, Curtis Wagoner and Howard (infant), sister Alpha Hale. Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Nancy Turner Wagner; his children, Jeff Wagner (Jackie) and Gerald Wagner (B.J.); grandchildren, Tyler and Madison Wagner; siblings, Albert Wagoner (Pauline), James Wagoner (Thelma), Voleria Cundiff (Bill), Esther Waller (Junior); also are several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Charles was a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather, selfless, and a great friend. Throughout his life, Charles worked many jobs from school bus driver to cabinet builder, but he was a carpenter for most of his life. He served as a police officer for 27 years and served on the Franklin County Board of Supervisors for 20 years. Charles was involved in public service most of his life. He was an active member of the Crossroads Ruritans, STEP, Piedmont Community Services, Rocky Mount Veterans Park and several other boards. He was also a lifelong Christian. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 18, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Living Waters Assembly of God with Pastor Roger Jones and Rev. Eddie Hawks officiating. Interment will follow in the Jeremiah Turner Cemetery located in Patrick County, VA. The family will receive friends at Living Waters Church, 5-8 p.m. Friday. Flowers are accepted or memorials may be made to Crossroads Ruritan Club. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
