Charlie Alvin Austin, age 83 of Ferrum died Tuesday, August 19, 2008.
He owned and operated a meat processing business and was a retired school bus driver.
He was born August 12, 1925 a son of the late Lewis and Lillie Austin. He was also preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law, Raymond and Blanche Austin; infant sister, Viola; sister and brothers-in-law, Janie Rutrough and Charlie and Ernest; brothers-in-law, Emory Jamison, John Brunk, Loyd Jamison; sister-in-law, Betty Jamison.
Mr. Austin is survived by his wife, Nannie Jamison Austin; daughters Lois and husband Joe Brubaker, Lena and husband John William Sink, Jr.; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; three step grandchildren; one brother, Wilmer and wife Clara; several nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Elizabeth Jamison, Joel Jamison (Fannie), Annie Bowman (Levi), Vernon Jamison (Frances), Fannie Brunk, Ellis Jamison (Rachel), Bertha May Brubaker (Marvin).
Funeral services will be conducted from Pigg River Old German Baptist Brethren Church 10 a.m. Thursday, August 21, 2008 with the Home Brethren officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Clearview Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. at Pigg River Church (Six Mile Post Road, Rocky Mount).
