Christine Ramsey

Christine Ramsey, 96, of Rocky Mount, who was born February 28, 1922 went to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 22, 2018. She was preceded in death by her loving parents, James Henry and Bertha Handy Corns of Stuart, Va.; husband, Neville Ramsey; all her eleven siblings, Bessie, Elsie, Zana, Zula, Clata, Velma, Dorothy, Curvie, Moir, Earl and one infant brother.

Surviving to cherish her memory are: daughter, Laquita (Dr. Francis Amos) of Rocky Mount; sons, Larry Ramsey of Oakley, UT, and Lynn Ramsey (Phyllis) of Rocky Mount; grandchildren, Frank Amos (Jenn), Susan Kirby (Scott), Chris Brown (Daniel), John Amos, Lori Contreras (Devin), Brandi Buff (Ryan), Dr. Tiffany Ramsey (Dr. Andrew Apostle), Courtney Edmunds (Dave), Gary Ramsey (Marybless); 17 great grandchildren, Ramsey and Jesse Amos, Noah and Rowan Chrisley, Garrison, Kenley and Lawson Brown, Jake Knight, Asher and Levi Buff, Colleen and Aidan Apostle, Archie, Walker, Georgia and Maggie Edmunds, and Gavin Ramsey.

Christine was a fun loving, joyful, stylishly dressed lady who shared her love with all she met with a hug. She was an exceptionally loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother to a closely knit family who likewise loved and honored her. She was a lady of multiple talents and interest including cooking, sewing, shopping, bluegrass music, car racing, and socializing with her many friends and participating in various activities of her beloved Franklin Heights Church. She worked many years at DuPont, Panill Knittting, Bassett-Walker, Virginia Apparel, and The Friendly Restaurant. She shared a smile with everyone she met and enjoyed gatherings with friends and family. Christine will be greatly missed by all whose lives she touched with her friendship.

The Family would like to express their thanks to the Staff and Personnel of Runk and Pratt Assisted Living at Westlake and also to Medi Home Hospice for the care they have provided Christine. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial gifts be made to Franklin Heights Church, 110 Hilltop Drive, Rocky Mount, Va. 24151.

Visitation with family and friends will be held at Flora Funeral Home (located at 665 S. Main Street, Rocky Mount, Va.) 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday, December 28, 2018. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 29, at Franklin Heights Church, 110 Hilltop Drive, Rocky Mount, Va. with Dr. Stan Parris officiating. Burial will follow at Franklin Memorial Park, Rocky Mount. The family respectfully request no food. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
