C.L. Adkins

C.L. Adkins, age 84 of Ferrum died Thursday, September 20, 2018. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Stephanie Young; son, James Michael Adkins; his father and mother, Myrtha and Robert Adkins; brothers, Kermit, Clarnce, James (J.D.) Adkins; sister, Dorathy Young. He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years Betty Carter Adkins; also survived by his sister, Madeline (Woody) Jones; and brother Charlie (Rachel) Adkins. C.L. will be forever remembered by his son-in-law, Stephen Young, sons Dale Adkins, Bradly (Carla) Adkins, daughters Karen (Daryl) Cannaday, Sharon (Curtis) Turner; his loving grandchildren, Josh (Kristinia) Young, Amy (Mark) Gordon, Jacob (Kristin) Spencer, Jennifer (Casey) Rakes, Jessica (Jebin) Heyse, Matthew Turner, Cale and Lindsey Adkins; and special niece Sheila (Brad) Lopez. He also had special great grandchildren, Emma, Paisley, Abigail, Brody, Creed, Addison, Colton, Tensley, and Brayden.  C.L. was an active member of Evangelistic House of Prayer in Ferrum. He was an avid hunter and outdoorsman that loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at Evangelistic House of Prayer, 2:00 p.m. Monday with Pastor Bud Nichols officiating. Interment will follow in the Carter Family Cemetery. His family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Evangelistic House of Prayer. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
