Claudia Evelyn Francis Mason, age 82 of Rocky Mount, died Sunday, May 4, 2008.
She was born on June 19, 1925 in Sandy Ridge, NC a daughter of the late John Andrew and Lou Hill Francis. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Merrill C. Mason, Jr. in February of this year; brother, Delbert Francis; sister, Iowa Hawkins.
Mrs. Mason worked at DuPont, was a school bus driver for Franklin County Public Schools and was a loving and faithful homemaker. She was also a member of Oak Level Baptist Church.
Mrs. Mason is survived by her son, Dan Mason of Raleigh, NC; daughters, Susan Medley and husband Tony of Rocky Mount, NC, Sherri Mason and special friend, Tom White of Collinsville; grandson, Todd Clark of Fork Mountain; brother, Charlie Francis of Sandy Ridge, NC.
Funeral services will be conducted at Oak Level Baptist Church 11 a.m. Wednesday with Dr. Charles Lumpkin officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park.
The family requests that memorial donations be made to the Fork Mountain Rescue Squad, c/o Captain Doug Nunn, 1822 Fork Mountain Road, Bassett, Va. 24055 or to Oak Level Baptist Church, 7720 Oak Level Road, Bassett, Va. 24055.
Her family will be receiving friends from 6:30-8 p.m. on Tuesday at Oak Level Baptist Church and other times at the family home.
