Clay Earl Rakes

Clay Earl “Haystack” Rakes, age 75 of Ferrum died Tuesday, February 28, 2017. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harve and Vida Rakes; and sister, Shirley Hundley. Surviving are his wife, Lois R. Rakes; children, Vickie and John Mansour, Dean and Loretta Rakes, Kristie Rakes; grandchildren, Chris and Rana Mansour, Amanda Mansour, Matthew Rakes, Michael Rakes, Elizabeth Rakes; great-grandchild, Maryam Mansour; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, John And Bev Renick, Clay and Linda Hundley; special aunt, Laura Whitlock. Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 11 a.m. Friday with Rev. Calvin Hickson officiating. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery. His family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
