Clifford S. Rakes

Clifford S. Rakes, age 72 of Ferrum died Wednesday, January 23, 2013. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Effie Nolen Rakes; infant son, Richard Benjamin Rakes; and brother, Marvin Rakes. Surviving are his wife, Linda Rakes; two daughters, Kelli Hash (Brandon), Amanda Cathcart (Chris); four grandchildren, Ethan and Tyler Hash, Aiden and Kaitlyn Cathcart; sisters, Naomi DeHart, Pauline Spencer, Victoria Turman (Charles), Gerene Rakes; brothers, Bill Rakes (Martha), Lane Rakes (Sue), Larry Rakes; sister-in-law, Vivian Rakes; numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be conducted from Franklin Memorial Park 2 p.m. Saturday with Rev. Bud Nichols officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ferrum Rescue Squad, c/o Captain Lisa McCaul, 1392 Jamison Mill Road, Henry, Va. 24102. There will be no visitation.
