Clifford Harold Simms, age 96 of Rocky Mount died Monday, October 18, 2010. He was born January 4, 1914. Harold was a Deacon of Story Creek Baptist Church and also served for many years with the Ferrum Rescue Squad. He was retired from Hub Oil Company with many years of service. Harold is survived by his lovely wife of 74 years, Elvarine Ingram Simms; five children, John C. Simms, Tillie and Jerry Thompson, Cynthia and Bo Willis, Claudia Wolfe and James D. and Lovviner Simms; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Funeral services will be conducted from Story Creek Baptist Church 3 p.m. Wednesday with Rev. Pat Collins, Rev. J. Larry Holland, and Chaplain Rick Poland officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. The family would like to pay special thanks to Carilion Hospice of Franklin County including Danielle and Sherri and all the caregivers especially Carolyn Rakes.
