Clora Mae Dillon Bates

Clora Mae Dillon Bates, 91, of Winterville, NC, passed away on Friday, April 15, 2022. Clora was born on December 8, 1930 in Franklin County, Virginia. She was one of 13 children born to Ben Reed and Clora Emma Dillon. She recently enjoyed watching her game shows and completing word search puzzles. Clora was predeceased by parents; husband, Robert David Bates; and siblings, Dalton Dillon, MacArthur Dillon, Roosevelt Dillon, Russell Dillon, Willie Dillon, Lena Fralin, Shirley Hale, Elizabeth Harrison, and Myrtle Taylor. She is survived by son, Robert D. Bates of Richmond, Virginia; and daughter, Sandy Massey and husband Frank of Winterville, NC; three grandchildren, Christopher Seidell and wife Jamie, Danielle Weisser and husband, John, and Hannah Kingsley and husband Logan; three great grandchildren, Tyson and Kayleigh Seidell, and Weston Weisser; siblings, Fulton Dillon, Geraldine Sigmon, and Kenna Landrum, as well as, a number of very special nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held at Mountain View Memorial Park (5970 Grassy Hill Rd, Boones Mill, VA), 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 20, 2022 with Pastor Rick Barton officiating. Her family will receive friends from 12:30 – 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests any memorial donations be made to the Dementia Society of America, Rehoboth United Methodist Church, Wirtz Virginia, or a favorite charity/cause.
