Clyde Wilson Bowles, 91, of Boones Mill went to his heavenly home Monday, March 3, 2014. He was born in Franklin County September 10, 1922. He was married to the late Dorothy J. Bowles and predeceased by his mother, Margaret K. Bowles; father, James E. Bowles; and brother, James H. Bowles. His passion was farming, raising cattle and horses. He was an avid horseman. He hosted many covered wagon excursions and many horse shows on his beloved farm. He was a master carpenter and started Clyde Bowles Construction Company in 1965 and built homes until the age of 75. He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy and served his country during World War II. Clyde's kindness, love, determination and giving nature touched the lives of many neighbors, family and friends. Surviving family includes two devoted and loving sons; David W. Bowles, James E. Bowles and wife Rose Marie; one daughter, Robyn L. Wines and husband Willie; former daughter-in-law, Suzon Cole; four sisters, Alice E. Bowles, Dorothy B. Reynolds and husband William, Alma Cunningham and husband Ed, Judy R. Pence and husband Richard; sister-in-law, Janie Lee Bowles; two brothers, Judson L. Bowles and wife Virginia, Kenneth G. Bowles and wife Betty; grandchildren, Paisley A. Bowles, Carrie L. VanDenBerg, Whitney L. East, Jason Wade and Matthew T. Wade; one great grandchild, Ella R. VanDenBerg; and numerous loving nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 6, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Flora Funeral Chapel, Reverend Jim Steele will officiate and burial will follow at Franklin Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Boones Mill Rescue Squad, 25355 Virgil Goode Highway, Boones Mill, VA 24065.
