Clyde Junior Palmer, September 17, 1938 to February 23, 2017, 78 years old, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 23, 2017 after a long difficult battle under Hospice care. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde Edmund Palmer and Beatrice Maureen Palmer. Formerly from Salem and resided in Burnt Chimney for many years. He was a long time employee and retired from VA Apparel. He always enjoyed fishing and camping with his wife. He was an outgoing, friendly person who was always concerned with others and never met a stranger. Family always came first and all who knew him loved him. He was survived by his wife of 31 years, Carolyn Sue Palmer; four sisters, Sandra and Jimmy Poff, Goldie Meacham, Barbara Wilson, and Mary Wood; one brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Pete and Alice Eden; five children, Alan and Melody Palmer, Jody and Cheryl Palmer, B.J. and Gerald Wagner, Tammy Hodges, and Allen Martin; 13 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the very special caregivers that were with him to the end of this long journey, Helen Wilcox and Kitty Ruby. Also, very special friends, Carl and Anita Johnson and Freddie Peters. Visitation will be 2-3 p.m. Sunday, February 26, 2017 at Rocky Mount Church of God with funeral services immediately following at 3 p.m. officiated by Pastor Robert Meredith. Graveside service will be 1 p.m. Monday, February 27, 2017 at Mountain View Memorial Park. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
