Coy Wayne “Briar Patch” Richards, age 68 of Rocky Mount died Friday, July 10, 2009.
He was retired from JD Bassett Furniture with many years of service.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Eula Mae Richards; and sons, Travis Wayne Richards and Coy Wayne Richards, Jr.
Surviving are his wife, Shelby Richards; children, Wanda Call and husband Frederick, Melissa Renee Richards and Frankie, Kim Reyell and Todd of Bassett; five grandchildren; brother, Casper Richards of Martinsville; sister, Lorene Harrison; many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted from Calvary Assembly of God Church 3 p.m. Monday with Rev. Etholene Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 3907, Martinsville, Virginia 24115.
His family will be receiving friends from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Calvary Assembly of God Church.
