Curtis Cornelius Brubaker, age 84 of Boones Mill died Saturday, May 12, 2012. He was born April 22, 1928 a son of the late Cornelius (Neil) and Dorothy Wiley Brubaker. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Virginia Wilkinson Brubaker; and son-in-law, William “Bill” Lowrance. Surviving are his daughters, Carolyn Lowrance of Hopewell, VA, Pam (Tom) Breeding of Cleveland, VA; grandchildren, Callie (Josh) Kilbourne of Knoxville, TN, Meghan Lowrance of Asheville, NC, Matthew Lowrance of Hopewell, VA, Whitney Breeding, Adam Breeding both of Cleveland, VA; great-grandchildren, Anastasia Kilbourne, Isaiah Kilbourne; and sisters, Phyllis Bateman of Salem, and Nancy (Les) Fulcher of Irmo, SC. Curtis was a US Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict. He worked for many years at Stone Printing and retired from Progress Printing in Lynchburg. He was a member of Antioch Church of the Brethren and a former member of Calvary United Methodist Church, Salem. Curtis was active volunteering at the RAM House. He enjoyed showing his antique cars and was a member of the Studebaker Club and the Antique Automobile Club of America. Funeral services will be conducted from Antioch Church of the Brethren 11 a.m. Tuesday with Rev. Josh Kilborne and Pastor Eric Anspaugh officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Antioch Church of the Brethren, 2996 Callaway Road, Rocky Mount, Virginia 24151. His family will receive friends 5-7 p.m. Monday at Flora Funeral Service & Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
