Curtis Hubert Shively, age 82 of Rocky Mount died Saturday, March 12, 2016. He was born March 1, 1934 a son of the late C. Dalton and Glendola Thomas Shively. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Marie Fralin Shively; and brother, Thomas Wayne Shively. Surviving are his sister, Janice S. Bollings; sister-in-law, Treva Shively; nephews, Samuel A. Shively, Andrew Wayne Shively, Timothy D. Shively; and great-nephews, Austin Shively, Caden Shively. Curtis was a graduate of Ferrum High School and Ferrum College. He taught school for seven years and served in the Army National Guard. He also retired from DuPont with many years of service. Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 11 a.m. Tuesday with Rev. Matthew Ricks officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Fork Mountain Rest Home, 2925 Fork Mountain Road, Rocky Mount, Virginia 24151 or to the Fork Mountain Rescue Squad, c/o Captain Brie Wilson, 2510 Rockwood Park Road, Bassett, Virginia 24055. His family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
