Curtis Odell Underwood

Curtis Odell Underwood, age 81 of Ferrum went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, August 3, 2010 surrounded by his family. He was born June 20, 1929 a son of the late Samuel and Lethie Underwood. He was also preceded in death by his son, Larry Shively; brothers, Harley Underwood and Ed Underwood; and sister, Bertha Radford. Surviving are his wife, Laura B. Underwood; two daughters and sons-in-law, Janet U. and David Hodges, Sandra and Larry Vernon; grandchildren, Patrick Curtis Robertson, Courtney Ann Joyce and Torrie and Dale Nichols; and special friend, Wayne Carter who was considered a son. Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 11 a.m. Thursday with Rev. Bobby McGhee officiating. Interment will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery. His family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Flora Funeral Service & Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
