Dale Mason

Dale Mason, 87, died Wednesday night at her home in the Sontag Community in Franklin County from complications of Alzheimer?s Disease. Better known as Mrs. Sid Mason, she was a native of Tennessee but a Virginian by choice. She and Sid married immediately after graduating from Carson-Newman College in 1948. Their 65 years of marriage was blessed with three children, Betty Dale Thorp (Dave), Tom Mason (Becky), and Marianne Jordan (Bill). Also surviving are four grandchildren, Cmdr. Travis Thorp, Taylor Thorp, Jessica Dale Jordan and David Mason, three great grandsons, and a sister, Emily Helm of Huntington, West Virginia. Dale was an important partner in the family business, Virginia Apparel Corporation in Rocky Mount and Ferrum. She also was an accomplished organist. A service of tribute conducted by the family will be held at 3p.m. Saturday, November 16, at Beulah Baptist Church on Sontag Road. Visitation will follow at the home at 1320 Sontag Road.
