Dale H. Powell

Dale H. Powell, age 75 of Franklin County, passed away Wednesday April 1, 2009, after a brave battle with cancer. He was born May 18, 1933 to John and Ina Powell. He grew up in Patrick County and later served four years in the Navy. He began his career in the building business with Continental Homes. In 1965 he started Twin Ford Sales in Stuart Va., until 1980 when he went to work at Mod-U-Kraf Homes as executive Vice President and later retired as President in 2004. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Anthony Powell; twin brother, Dillard Powell; and another brother, Brewster Powell. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 51 years, Shirley Powell; son, Jeff Powell and wife Carrie; son, Bradley Powell and wife Tracey; and five grandchildren. His family will receive friends Saturday April 4, 2009 from 5:00 til 8:00 p.m. at Flora Funeral Service. Graveside services will be held 3:00 p.m. Sunday April 5, 2009 at Mary Horner Walker Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Patrick County, Va. In lieu of flowers, donations are being accepted by Mary Horner Walker Presbyterian Church in Patrick County in care of Tina Tatum of Patrick Springs, Va. 24133 or to Carilion Hospice Services at 180 Floyd Avenue Rocky Mount, Va.
