Dan Burnett

Dan Burnett, age 69 of Rocky Mount passed away Tuesday, May 21, 2013. He was an employee of the Franklin County School System for 36 years. He was a faithful and loyal Hokie for 51 years. He was preceded in death by his father, John D. Burnett, Jr. Surviving are wife of 46 years, Carolyn Allen Burnett; son, David M. Burnett; daughter, Sheri L. Burnett; mother, Margie Burnett; and his three canine companions, Bo, Tucker, Presley. Dan received his Bachelor of Science from Lynchburg College and his Master’s Degree from Virginia Tech. He was a true southern gentleman whose wit and sense of humor will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Rocky Mount Baptist Church or Rocky Mount Christian Church. Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 11:00 a.m. Friday May 24, 2013 with Rev. Ron Hennis, Rev. Matthew Ricks and Pastor Jeff Robinson officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Memorial Park. His family will receive friends 6-8 pm Thursday at Flora Funeral Service & Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
