Daniel Patrick "Danny" Smith, Jr.

Daniel Patrick Smith, Jr., age 64 of Rocky Mount, passed away on Sunday, August 17, 2025. He was born on November 20, 1960 in Newport News, VA to the late Daniel Patrick and Mary Rumple Smith. He was also preceded in death by his mother and father, Dan and Mary Smith, sister, Pamela Shrewsberry (Paris).

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Ruth Mundy Smith; daughters, Allison Smith and Joanne (Brook); brother, Gary Smith (Angie); nieces, Carrie Smith Millington (Chris) and Emily Smith, Tessa Thompson (the late Samuel) and nephew, Paris Shrewsberry Jr. (Alisia); sister-in-law, Lynne M. Hines (Eddie); brother-in-law, Phil Mundy (Diane); numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A private committal service for immediate family members was held at Mountain View Memorial Park, Saturday, August 30, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. A celebration of life service will be held at Rocky Mount Baptist Church, 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 25, 2025. His family will receive friends one hour prior to services .

Per Danny’s request, in lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial contribution to Shriner’s Children’s Hospital or St. Judes Children’s Hospital.
