Daniel Orville Montgomery

Daniel Orville Montgomery, 86, of Wirtz went to his heavenly home on November 7, 2015. He was a lifelong dairy farmer and loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Audrey Franklin Montgomery, his parents, John Lee and Cora (Kingery) Montgomery, father-in-law, Joel Peters, mother-in-law, Mary M. (Peters) Montgomery, brothers, Roy, Clyde, Cabel, Joseph and sisters, Annie Bowman, Ruth Peters, Bertha Montgomery, Esther Jamison, and Rachel Beckner as well as several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Annie (Peters) Montgomery, children Donnie and Charlotte Montgomery, Marlene Montgomery, Carla and Gordon Rutrough, all of Wirtz. In addition, twelve grandchildren, Sheldon and Thurston Bower, Jamie Montgomery, Brandon and Jessica Montgomery, Shelia Grisso, Marcy and Aaron Crabtree, Justin Rutrough, Simon and Ashley Rutrough, Katie and James Wisler, Natalie and Jesse Long, John Tyler and Kelly Rutrough, Bailey Rutrough, Sallie Rutrough, and thirteen great-grandchildren, one sister, Lois and Joseph Denlinger of Ohio, brothers-in-law, Virgil Jamison of Salem, David and Doris Peters of Wirtz, and Dennis and Jeanette Peters of NC, sisters-in-law, Emma Montgomery of Ohio, Frances and Archie Boothe of Ohio and Virginia and Kenneth Rutrough of Wirtz. Also many nieces and nephews and dedicated caregivers. In lieu of flowers the family request memorials be made to a charity of your choice. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Oak Hill Old German Baptist Brethren Church with the Home Brethren officiating. Interment will follow in the Church Cemetery. His family will receive friends 2-4 and 5-8 p.m. Monday at the Oak Hill Church. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center Rocky Mount.
