Daniel Orren Young

Daniel Orren Young, age 67, of Rocky Mount, went to heaven on Sunday, March 22, 2026. He was preceded in death by father and mother, Buford T. Young and Martha Elsie Hodges Young. He is survived by brother, Thomas M. Young, wife, Sharon; sister Karen Young-Tyree, husband Andy; nephew, Alexander Young, wife Mary; niece, Samantha Young Kaseke, husband Trinity; aunts, Doris Buckner and Etta Young; uncle, David M. Young; and many cousins.

The family would like to thank dedicated caregivers, Brandy and Jason Harrison.

Danny worked for many years at the Franklin County Developmental Center where he was known as "Dan, Dan the pallet man" and then at Goodwill. At Compass Day center Dan enjoyed socializing and going out to eat. He was a member of Fairview Church of the Brethren where he was the head usher for many years.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Compass Day in memory of Dan (on the check memo), and mailed to Compass Day, P.O. Box 8, Rocky Mount, Virginia 24151.

The family appreciates your thoughts and prayers and asks that no food be brought to the home.

A celebration of his life will be held at Fairview Church of the Brethren 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 26, 2026. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
