Dannie Hodges Smith

Dannie Hodges Smith, age 90 of Rocky Mount passed away Thursday, October 6, 2011. She was born December 20, 1920 and was preceded in death by her parents, George and Addie Jones Hodges; her husband, Eugene; and son, Terry “Baby” Smith; three brothers; and six sisters. Left to cherish her memory is her children and their spouses, Calvin Eugene Smith, George Clinton Smith, Mary Lou and Armand Denis, Gerald Randolph Smith, and Ricky Allen and Denise Smith. She had 18 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Judy Smith; three sisters-in-law, Ethleen Hall, Corrina Harrison, and Lucille Brown. She has numerous nieces and nephews. Dannie graduated in 1939 from Franklin County then she attended college for two years in Richmond. She was the longest living member of Henry Fork Church of the Brethren. Funeral services will be conducted from Henry Fork Church of the Brethren 2 p.m. Saturday with Pastor Ronald Coleman officiating. Interment will follow in the Hodges-Lynch Family Cemetery. Her family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Friday at Henry Fork Church. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service & Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
