David Gordon Atkins

David Gordon Atkins, age 75 of Wirtz passed away Thursday, May 12, 2016. He is survived by his wife Ruby Atkins of Wirtz; sons Andrew, Joseph and Jim Atkins, and his daughters Julie Atkins and Patricia Johnson. He is also survived by James, Dennis, Randall, Mark, Dominic and Jeff Wada, and by Patricia McBride; his siblings Lynwood Atkins and his wife Betty, Judy Hawkins, Kyle Atkins, Keith Atkins and his wife Vicki, and by numerous nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He retired from the US Navy with the rank of Master Chief Petty Officer where he served for 26 years. He also worked for Sikorsky Aircraft Company for ten years. The viewing will be on Friday, May 20, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints at 55 Highland Street in Rocky Mount, VA. There will be a memorial service on Saturday, May 21, at 11:00 a.m. also at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Rocky Mount.
