David Kent Johnson, age 75 of Ferrum, VA went to be with his Lord and Savior Tuesday, November 25, 2025 at his home with his family.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Saturday, December 6, 2025 at Flora Funeral Service, 665 S Main St, Rocky Mount, VA 24151. The funeral service will start at 2:00 PM at Flora Funeral Chapel with Jamie Ellis officiating.
David is survived by his wife Angie; beloved son, David (Paul) Johnson (Tashia); brother, Herbert Johnson (Jeanette); sister, Vicki Strother (Bob); and sister, Sandra Johnson. Also, sisters-in-law, Kim Good (Tim) and Rena Hilliard (Jeff); and many precious nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and close cousins; and his aunt, Ruth Crayne; and uncle, Buddy Shetley; special friends, Brad Adkins (Carla) and Joe Golding (Sandra), George Bateman, Billy Barnett (Becky), Becky, Paul, Kim Shively, Mike and Melody Love.
David was preceded in death by his parents Herbert and Jettie Johnson of Union.
He was a member of Franklin Heights Church, Rocky Mount, VA.

David served in the Marines from 1968-1972. He was very proud of his service and still told new stories until his death. He served as air wing for helicopters. Once a Marine always a marine. Semper Fi.
David graduated from USC South Carolina with a BS in Engineering in 1978. He started his own engineering firm D.K. Johnson Inc. in 2002 until Dec 2024. He became a professional engineer and was licensed in 20 states. He was also a licensed class A contractor, plumbing, electrician and HVAC.
He was passionate about flying private air planes in his younger days. He liked building projects of all kinds. He also loved living in the mountains, fishing, gardening, his dogs and all nature brought him joy. He had a wonderful since of humor and wit, and was a great story teller. He was a great encourager and had a bigger than life personality.
David loved life and made the most of it. He will be missed so very much.
