David Abraham Peters Sr.

David Abraham Peters Sr. was born on October 10, 1927, to Joel and Maggie Peters at the family farm in Wirtz, VA. On November 15, 1947, he was united in marriage with Gracie Lenora Boothe. Their home was blessed with three sons and three daughters and they enjoyed 65 years together, until her passing on February 13, 2013. On September 27, 2013, he was united in marriage to Doris Rutrough Bowman with whom he enjoyed sharing the last years of life. As a very young man, Dad committed his life to the Lord. He lived faithful to his commitment until he peacefully entered into eternal life in the early morning hours of August 12, 2016. He will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife Doris; his children: Sue and Donnie Gipe, Raymond and Jeanette, Jean and Roger Boone, Mary Ann and Calvin Ronk, D.A. and Kenlynn, Joey and his friend, JoAnne York; 13 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; Doris’ family, including her mother, Frances Rutrough; sister and brother in law: Irene and William Jamison; brother: Wayne Rutrough and his friend, Marcia DeHart; children: Rita and John Popejoy; Roland and Erlene Bowman, and Aaron Bowman; 10 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, Dennis and Jeanette Peters; two sisters: Frances and Archie Boothe, Virginia and Kenneth Rutrough; sisters in law: Shirley Wood, Barbara and Raymond Akers, Bunah Boothe; and brother in law, Malcom Montgomery. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife: Gracie, granddaughter: Ginger Ann Ronk, brother: J.H. Peters, and four sisters: Irene Fisher, Pauline Bowman, Ethelene Montgomery and Annie Montgomery. Visitation will be held at the Oak Hill Old German Baptist Brethren Church on Sunday, August 14 from 2-4:30 and 5:30-8:30. The funeral service will be held on Monday, August 15 at 10 a.m. at Oak Hill Church with the Home Brethren officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
