David A. Rhodes

David A. Rhodes, age 80 of Rocky Mount died Wednesday, March 23, 2016. He was preceded in death by his parents, Susan B. and David C. Rhodes and brother C. Edmund Rhodes. Left behind to cherish his memory are his wife and best friend, Mary T. Rhodes; sons, Patrick D. Rhodes and Michael D. Rhodes; loving daughter and son-in-law, Teresa B. and Larry Lobmeyer; step-daughter, Barbara Gillieo; stepson, Daniel Buonocore, and grandson, Danny James Buonocore. David was born and raised in Englewood, N.J. and has lived in Franklin for over 25 years. He retired from the Bergen County, N.J. Police Department and was a life member of the N.J.P.B.A. He was a Cold War Veteran in the United States Army, 6th Inf. Regt. In Berlin, Germany (1955-1957) on Occupation Duty. He was a member of the American Legion Post #6, V.F.W. Post 10840, N.R.A. for over 50 years and Knights of Columbus Council #14509. He was a faithful member of Francis of Assisi Catholic Church and a lifelong hunter and fisherman and enjoyed his walks in the woods with his dog “Sadie”. He often said that the last 25 years here with “His Mary” were the happiest of his life! The family would like thank Carilion Franklin Hospice staff and Marsha, the caregiver for their wonderful care. Funeral services will be conducted 1 p.m. Tuesday at Francis of Assisi Catholic Church with Father Nicholas Mammi officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Memorial Park. His family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Monday at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
