David Alan Thurman, 64, of Glade Hill, Va., passed away on Thursday, October 30, 2008, at Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
He was born October 17, 1944, a son of the late George Thomas and Edna Rye Thurman. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Judy Lane Thurman; and grandparents, Will and Beulah Thurman.
Surviving are his sons, Gary (Melinda) Thurman, of Glade Hill, Joey (Paula) Chitwood, and Timmy Chitwood, all of Rocky Mount; daughter, Tammy Chitwood, of Glade Hill; grandchildren, Amanda, Quinlyn, Taylor, Stormee and Harlea Chitwood, and Dylan Yost; sister-in-law, Mary Bernard; brother-in-law, Ewell Hall; several nieces and nephews; and special niece, Donna Anderson.
Funeral services will be conducted from the graveside 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 1, 2008, at Hodges-Lynch Family Cemetery with the Rev. Mark Griffith officiating.
Friends may call after 4 p.m. on Friday, October 31, 2008, with his family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at Flora Funeral Service, S. Main St., Rocky Mount, Va., and at other times at the home of Gary Thurman.
