Denise Oakes Smith

Denise Oakes Smith, age 67 of Roanoke, went to be with our heavenly Father Wednesday, November 15, 2023. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leslie and Irene Oakes; brother, Sanford Leslie Oakes; grandparents, Jacob and Etheleen Wright, Carr and Lula Oakes. Surviving are her brother, Darrell Oakes (Mildred); sister, Sheila Witt; nephew, Melvin Walker III; and lifelong friend, Dottie Webb (Ron). Denise was retired from the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office with many years of service. A memorial service will be held at Flora Funeral Chapel 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 2, 2023.
