Derise Vaughn Foster, age 65 of Rocky Mount died Wednesday, October 5, 2016. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry Lee Foster, Sr. and Doris Foster. Surviving are his wife of 43 years and high school sweetheart, Debbie S. Foster; daughters, Carrie F. Altice and husband Wayne, Katherine E. Foster “Katie” and fiancé Tony Blythe; granddaughters, Ashton and Abigail Altice; sister, Nerine Hickman and husband Jerry; brother, Harry Lee Foster, Jr.; brother-in-law, Leon Sink and wife Cheryl; sister-in-law, Trudey Sink and husband Victor Rivera; numerous nieces and nephews and cousins and special life-long friends, Dane Englehart and Danny Little. Derise graduated from Franklin County High School and served in the United States Army. He was a devoted and loving husband, father, and grandfather. He retired as a self-employed building contractor and loved canoeing, kayaking, hunting, road trips with Debbie and Friday night beer on the farm with best buds. His lifetime was lived in his childhood neighborhood and he was proud of constructing the home he raised his family in. He was very well known and a loved member of his community. Special thanks to Jeff and Dana Moran for their care and concern. Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 2 p.m. Sunday with Rev. Kathryn Budzik officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. His family will receive friends 5-8 p.m. Saturday at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
