Dexter G. Helton, Sr.

Dexter G. Helton, Sr., age 72 of Rocky Mount died Saturday, May 29, 2021. He fought a battle with MS for many years. He was born November 25, 1948 a son of the late William and Myrtle Helton. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Shelia Mae Helton. Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Carolyn “Diane” Helton; sons, Dexter Helton, Jr., (Teresa), James R. Helton (Cheryl); grandchildren, Aeriel Helton, Sierra Helton, Amber Helton, Erin Helton, Michael Housman; sister, Billie Nichols; brother, Marty Helton (Donna); niece, Tammy; numerous other nieces and nephews. Mr. Helton retired from Roanoke Electric Steel with many years of service. He enjoyed racing and football. Services will be private.
