Diane Jamison Kingery

Diane Jamison Kingery, age 83 of Rocky Mount died peacefully at home on Wednesday, August 24, 2016. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Euell Claude and Mrs. Ella Jamison; and her brother, E.C. Jamison Jr. She is survived by her husband of 67 years, Walter P. Kingery; and daughters, Marsha Chitwood (Dewey), Rev. Charlotte Evans (Joseph), Leslieanne Kingery, and Sheryl Kingery Mays (Peter Ordonez); and foster son, Jeff Meador (Phyllis). She is survived by her grandchildren, Allison Hahs (Jonathan), Kristen McGilliard (Josh); great-grandchildren, Madison and Maeleigh Hahs, and Connor and Emma Claire McGilliard. She is survived also by three siblings, sister, Claudette Thompson (Dillard); brothers, Dr. James Jamison (Pat) and Lewis Jamison; and sister-in-law, Catherine Kingery. Diane was a long-time member of Sandy Ridge Baptist Church where she sang in the choir for 40 years, led Women on Mission, and worked with Girls in Action (Acteens). She was president of the Burnt Chimney Elementary School PTA, a Pink lady at Franklin Memorial Hospital, was involved in the Young Homemaker’s Club, and active with the Republican Women. She loved living on the farm, where she enjoyed all of the animals, especially Gertrude and Mr. B, and her “grand” pets. Diane enjoyed traveling the United States and internationally but, most of all, she loved her family. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial contributions to Sandy Ridge Baptist Church, 1444 Bonbrook Mill Road, Rocky Mount, Va. 24151 designated to the building fund, or to a charity of your choice. Visitation will be at Sandy Ridge Baptist Church on Friday, August 26 from 5 to 8 p.m. The Memorial Service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 27 at the church.
