Dona G. Minnick

Dona G. Minnick, 49, of Roanoke, died unexpectedly in a tragic automobile accident on November 3, 2015. She was preceded in death by both sets of grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Harry M. Webber, Sr. and Mr. and Mrs. Henry A. Minnick. Dona was a beloved teacher, daughter, sister and friend. Dona taught at Rocky Mount Elementary School for 26 years and adored all of her kids throughout the years. She loved sports (especially the Redskins), animals (especially cats), music and hanging out with her friends. Dona will always be remembered for her love of teaching and the passion she felt for her kids and her school. She is survived by her loving parents, Don and Helen Minnick of Rocky Mount; sisters, Lubeth (Rob) Jones of Roanoke, and Michelle (Jon) Obenshain of Moneta. In addition she leaves behind a special aunt and uncle, several cousins, numerous friends and her two cat children. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, November 7, 2015 at Rocky Mount Christian Church with Pastor Matt Ricks officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until 2 p.m. prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations in Dona's memory can be made to the Franklin County Humane Society or the Roanoke Valley SPCA. The family respectfully requests no food at this time.
