Donald Keith Hale, age 80 of Ferrum passed away Saturday, August 17, 2013 at the Veteran Affairs Medical Center in Salem, Virginia. Born December 14, 1932 the son of the late Dalton John Hale of Ferrum. Surviving are his mother, Betty Cooper Hale of Rocky Mount; wife, Juanita Carter Hale of 45 years residing at the home; one step-son, Terry Wilton Peters, Sr.; four step-grandchildren, Terry Wilton Peters, Jr., Sammy, Kevin and Angela Peters Hodges; and seven step-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are four brothers, Burnice, Coy, Ralph, and Berkley; three sisters, Doris Berry, Elva Bourne, and Shirley Whitlow; and his two K-9 companions, Baby Katie and Adie Marie. Donald enjoyed playing cards, Nascar, his home and wife?s home cooking, and many friends and family. He lived in Franklin County most of his life. Donald served his country in the United States Army, stationed in Paris France. Graveside services will be conducted from the Carter-Young Family Cemetery 1:30 p.m. Tuesday. His family will receive friends 11 a.m. ? 1 p.m. prior to the service at Flora Funeral Service & Cremation Center, Rocky Mount and other times at the family home, 2300 Marshall Hill Road, Ferrum.
