Donald B. Osborne, Sr.

Donald Buster Osborne, Sr., age 79 of Smith Mountain Lake, Va., Moneta, Virginia and formerly of Vansant, Virginia and Orrville, Wooster, Killbuck and Millersburg, OH passed away Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at Trinity Mission of Rocky Mount with his wife at his bedside. He was born in Drill, Virginia on May 29, 1932. He was preceded in death by his parents, Walker and Maggie Osborne; one grandson, Joshua Donald Osborne; an infant brother, Arnold all of Vansant; one brother, Franklin D. Osborne of Cedar Bluff, Virginia; three sisters, Goldie Armes, Juanita Murphy, and Georgia Osborne; one nephew, Herschel Armes all of Vansant; and one son-in-law, Charlie Robertson of Goodview and Wirtz, Virginia; several aunts, uncles and cousins. Mr. Osborne is survived by his wife of 55 years, Julia Ann Carpenter Osborne; his children, Donald B. Osborne, Jr. of Penhook, and Kathleen Ann Osborne of Wirtz; his grandchildren, Latessa Osborne (Ricky) Cooper of Alpharetta, GA, and Walker T. Maxey of Wirtz; one sister, Betty (Ray) Smith of Vansant; one brother, James Osborne (Della) of Mount Carmel, TN; one sister-in-law, Evelyn Osborne of Richlands, Virginia; and a special aunt, Eva Lou Owens of Mavisdale, Virginia; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was of the Baptist Faith. Funeral services will be conducted from Alexander Funeral Home, Millersburg, OH at 2 p.m. on Saturday with Mr. Osborne’s brother-in-law, Evangelist Larry Devore officiating. Burial will follow in Sherwood Memorial Gardens, 7076 Cleveland Road, Wooster, OH. Pallbearers will be Curtis Carpenter, Matt Devore, Dennis Blackburn, Kelly Curren, Mike Hannah and Tim Mullet. His family will receive friends two hours prior to the service on Saturday at Alexander Funeral Home in Ohio and 6-7:30 p.m. Thursday at Flora Funeral Service & Cremation Center, Rocky Mount with a service beginning at 7:30 p.m. with Pastor Melvin Harris officiating.
