Dora Goad Brown

Dora Goad Brown age 89 of Rocky Mount passed away Monday December 14, 2009. Mrs. Brown was born November 13, 1920 a daughter of the late Ingle Goad and Bessie Bailey Goad Spangler. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur Edward Brown; brother, Cecil Spangler. Mrs. Brown was a graduate of Jefferson Hospital School of Nursing and a member of the Rocky Mount Baptist Church. Surviving are her sisters, Margaret Ratliff of South Boston, Janet Smith and husband Harry of Lynchburg; sisters-in-law, Doris B. Shea and Ann Marie Spangler; two neices and four nephews. Funeral services will be conducted from Rocky Mount Baptist Church 2:00 pm Thursday with Dr. Jack Corvin officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. Her family will receive friends one hour prior to service time at the church.Dora requested that flowers be omitted and memorial donations be made to Wilbur Edward Brown Scholarship Fund at FCHS or the Wilbur Edward Brown Benevolence Fund at Rocky Mount Baptist Church.
