Dora Frances Ward, age 91 of Wirtz, went to be with the Lord Tuesday, February 10, 2009.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Robert Landon Ward; grandsons, Mark D. Ward and Richard Lamar Spicer; sisters, Dorothy Ward, Mary Fravel, Hilda Hines; brother, Robert Funkhouser.
Left here to pass on the memories are her children, Douglas Ward (Brenda) of Salem, Peggy Hegler of Lancaster, SC, Jenny Ashworth (Ronnie) of Collinsville, Larry “Charlie” Ward (Cindy) of Roanoke, Susie Hodges of Wirtz, Linda Young (Frank) of Rocky Mount, Cathy Russell of Rocky Mount; sister, Margarite O’Donnell of Winchester; brother, Houston Funkhouser of Youngstown, OH; special friend, Geneva Dillon of Wirtz; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 11 a.m. Friday with Pastor Gary Hoffman officiating. Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Roanoke.
Friends may call after 3 p.m. Thursday with her family receiving friends from 6-8 p.m. at Flora Funeral Service, 665 South Main Street, Rocky Mount.
