Doris M. Nichols, age 84 of Rocky Mount went to be with the Lord Monday, March 24, 2014 to join her loving husband, Marvin Nichols of 51 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Eliza Mills; sister, Ida Nichols and husband Tracie Nichols; brothers-in-law, Charlie Hardy, Buford Webster, Robert Gibson, Joseph Gibson, Robert Trail, James Smith. Surviving are her sisters, Thelma Hardy, Page Webster; one special sister and caregivers, Ruth and Richard Webster, Annie Farris (James), Peggy Gibson, Nellie Gibson, Clara Mills, Jean Wood (Curtis), Judy Trail, Brenda Smith; brothers, Kenneth Mills (Glenna), Curtis Mills, Don Mills; sisters-in-law, Carolyn Mills, Nellie Mills; brother-in-law, Calvin Nichols (Thelma); many nieces, nephews, cousins and her loving church family. She was a loving sister and faithful member of Rocky Mount First Church of the Brethren. She loved taking care of her flowers and yard. Doris will be missed by all who knew her. Special thanks to Dr. Amos and staff, Carilion Franklin Memorial Hospital, Franklin Healthcare Center and Hospice for their care in her last days. Funeral services will be conducted from Rocky Mount First Church of the Brethren 11 a.m. Thursday with Rev. John Collins and Rev. Harry Shelton officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Memorial Park. Her family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Flora Funeral Service & Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
