Doris H. Young, age 95 of Ferrum passed away on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at her home. She was born on September 17, 1930, daughter of the late Frank E. Harrison and Mary C. Harrison.
She was also predeceased by her son, Walter Wayne Jones; her brother, William Boyd Harrison; and her sister, Bernice H. Carr.
Doris is survived by her husband, George Cecil Young of Ferrum, Virginia; granddaughter, Ashley Jones Paul (Mario); great-grandson, Landon Wayne Paul of Grand Junction, Colorado; daughter-in law, Martha D. Page (Charlie) of Roanoke, Virginia; brother, Edward (Carol) Harrison of Martinsville, Virginia; sister, Patricia H. Paige of Roanoke, Virginia.
A loving step-mother and step-grandmother to Clara Anne Spencer (Tod) of Clermont, Florida, Cecilia Dianne Leonard (Neil) of Blue Ridge, Virginia; and son, James C. Young of Roanoke, Virginia; grandchildren, Danielle Young, Lauren Davis (Brandon), Beverly Anne Davis (Tony), Ginny Willard (Jake), Jonathan Leonard (Amber), Jacob Leonard; great- grandchildren, Lily, Ada, Georgia, Sawyer and Anniston, Travis, Mckinley, Levi and Ella Willard; sisters and brothers-in-law, Shirley (Hugh) Green of Ferrum, Virginia, Darnell (James) Green of Roanoke, Virginia. Also surviving Doris are several loving nieces and nephews.
Our sincere thanks and appreciation to Fred Peters and his team of caregivers. They showed love, compassion, and outstanding care.
Doris retired after a lengthy career with Dupont Manufacturing, Martinsville, Virginia. She was a member of Rocky Mount United Methodist Church, Rocky Mount, Virginia.
The funeral service will be Saturday, February 21, 2026 at Flora Funeral Chapel, Rocky Mount, VA at 2 p.m. with Rev. Will Waller officiating. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. prior to the service. Entombment will conclude at Franklin Memorial Park Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to Ferrum Volunteer Rescue Squad and Carilion Hospice of Franklin County.
In addition, the family would like to thank Carilion Hospice for their help and support.
