Dorothy Woods Blankenship

Dorothy Woods Blankenship, 85, of Ferrum, died Saturday, April 12, 2008. She was a lifelong member of St. James United Methodist Church and was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Lura Woods; sister, Lottie Cooper; and a brother, Roy Woods. Mrs. Blankenship is survived by her husband, Reid Blankenship; son and daughter-in-law, Wayne and Leverne Blankenship; daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Sherrard Flora; seven grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; brothers, Buren, Wilsie, Harold, Ernest and Jackie Woods; sisters, Phyllis Holley and Janet Stanaland; brother-in-law, Ronnie Cooper and friend, Elizabeth; special lifelong friend, Elma Young; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 2 p.m. Monday, April 14, 2008, with the Rev. Liz Lazenby officiating. Interment will follow in St. James United Methodist Church Cemetery. Flowers will be accepted or memorial contributions may be made to St. James United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 38, Ferrum, Virginia, 24088. The family will receive friends Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Flora Funeral Service, 665 South Main Street, Rocky Mount.
