Dorothy Ellen Bunn

Dorothy Ellen Hutchinson Bunn, age 73, died Tuesday, July 13, 2010 at Runk & Platt Retirement Center from complications arising from Alzheimer’s disease. Born February 25, 1937 in Vienna, Austria, to James & Ellen Hutchinson, she graduated from Wheaton in 1959 earning a B.S. degree and R.N. On November 28, 1971 she married Dr. Norris Bunn, Jr. She lived in Ocean City, NJ, worked as a nurse at Shore Memorial Hospital, and assisted her husband in his practice as a general surgeon. She moved to Smith Mountain Lake, Virginia in 1987. Dottie was a member of Christians Women’s Club, a local quilting guild, and taught Bible studies. She spent her life helping others. Dottie was loved by her husband Norris Bunn, 2 daughters, Melinda & husband Antonio Vieira, Kim & husband Scott Howells, 2 sons, Norris & wife Heidi Bunn, David Bridgens, 2 stepsons, Mike & wife Lynn Bunn, John & wife Ann Bunn,17 grandchildren, Madisyn, Elijah, & Jayden Vieira, Keenan Murray, Chris, Megan, & Mckenna Howells, Bella, Nathaniel, Matilda, & Nicholas Bunn, Macklin Bridgens, Mike & Devin Bunn, Becky Sauder, Tom & Dylan Bunn, 3 great-grandchildren, and brother Don Hutchinson. A Memorial Service will be held at 4 PM on Tuesday, July 27th at Halesford Baptist Church, 2485 Lost Mtn. Rd. Wirtz, VA. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service & Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
