Dorothy Katherine Ramsey Cundiff, age 93 of Penhook was born March 27, 1928 and departed this life on Monday, November 1, 2021. She was preceded in death by her husband, T. C. Cundiff; and her parents, A.D. and Betty Goggin Ramsey. The sorrow of her life was the deaths of her two sons, the oldest Ronald Wayne Cundiff and the youngest, David Robert Cundiff; as well as her granddaughter, Frances Kim Humphreys.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Terry Wilson Cundiff (Patsy), Barbara Humphreys (Frank), T. C. (Tommy) Cundiff (Kathy) and Betty Finch (Paul O'Neil). She is also survived by her siblings, David Ramsey, Peggy Campbell, James Ramsey, Elizabeth DeLargy; daughters-in-law, Lois Cundiff, Tina Cundiff; former son-in-law, Jerry Finch; and her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She worked for Retail Merchants for 50+ years and was the driving force behind the Franklin County Christmas parade, ran the Farmers Market (which bears her name), managed the RMS former credit reporting bureau and produced 42 local pictorial history books. The family would like to thank Heartland Well Care and their dedicated staff especially Monica and Colby. The family would like to express our appreciation to her long-term caregivers, Kimberly Adkins, Angie Dudley, and Tammy Dowdy. You were always there and loved and took great care of Mama. To the newest caregivers, Patsy Holland and Phyllis Caldwell we appreciate everything you did for her. We would also like to thank Henry and Bob Patterson who came every time Mama called for help at home or at Retail Merchants.
The family requests no food and in lieu of flowers please make donations to the Dorothy R. Cundiff Farmers Market.
Funeral services and burial will be private. Her family will receive friends 4-7 p.m. Friday at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
