Dorothy Adkins Davis

Dorothy Adkins Davis, age 85 of Rocky Mount, passed away Thursday February 5, 2015. Dorothy was born May 16, 1929. She loved Spring and took pride in working hard growing flowers and gardening outdoors. She was a member of Rocky Mount Christian Church for 49 years. Dorothy was preceded in death by two husbands, Alvie Adkins and Charles Davis; brothers, Billy Haskins (Joy), and Douglas Haskins; sister, Evelyn Yeatts (Cleo); and brother-in-law, Sammy Oakes. Surviving are her two sons, David Adkins (Sally Ervin), Charles "Chip" Davis and friend Kathy Paranac; sisters, Lena Oakes, Brenda Bryant (Barry); brothers, Wayne Haskins (Gale), Bobby Haskins (Karen); numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Monday at Rocky Mount Christian Church with Rev. Matthew Ricks officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Rocky Mount Christian Church, 120 South Main Street, Rocky Mount, Va. 24151.Her family will receive friends 5-7 p.m. Sunday at Rocky Mount Christian Church.
