Dorothy Layman

Dorothy Boone Layman, age 98 of Wirtz died Tuesday, April 12, 2016. Surviving are seven children, Lowell and Miriam Layman, Lois and Marvin Bowman, Wayne and Wylenia Layman, David and Judy Layman, Owen and Dorothy Layman, Betty and Curtis Selby, Daniel and Teresa Layman; 28 grandchildren; 88 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; two step-great-grandchildren; two step-great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ezra R. Layman; one grandson, Joel Selby; siblings, Ena and John Miller, Ruth and her husbands, Howard Wade, Jesse Rutrough, Raymond Garber, Ruby and Jim Taylor, Robert and Mary Boone, Arthur and his wives, Mattie and Rowena Boone, Susie Bowman, Ezra Boone, Eileen Boone, Lydia Rutrough. Also surviving are four brothers, Sam and Eva Boone, Joe and Phyllis Boone, Riley and Judith Boone, Roy and JoAnn Boone; sister, Dora and Marion Austin; brothers-in-law, Ezra Bowman and Albert Rutrough; many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Thursday and 2-4 p.m. and 5:30-8 p.m. Friday. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday all at Oak Hill Old German Baptist Brethren Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
