Drusilla Mary Layman Pasley

Drusilla Mary Layman Pasley, age 96 of Boones Mill died Monday, June 17, 2013. She was preceded in death by her husband of forty four years, Charlie Pasley; sister, Frances Garber; and three infant siblings, Annis, John, and Nancy Jane. She was born on December 14, 1916, to the Rev. Frank B. Layman, Sr. and Sadie Bowman Layman. Surviving are her sons and daughters-in-law, Charles and Angell Pasley, Gerald and Clara Mae Pasley; daughters and sons-in-law, Agnes and Wayne Hodges, Nancy Dru and John Robertson; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Rev. Frank B. Layman, Jr., Daniel Layman and Mary, Ardine Akers, Lois Marie Willis, Dr. David Layman and Anne; sisters-in-law, Ernestine Hartigan and Jim, and Anne McBride; many nieces nephews and friends. She was a member of Antioch Church of the Brethren since the age of 11. As a faithful member, she taught the Jr. Class for 35 years, worked on the kitchen committee for about 40 years, served on the church board for two terms and the pastoral search committee twice. She was a teacher in the schools of Franklin County with a total of 37 years of teaching, 35 of them in Boones Mill High School and Franklin County Junior High School. Funeral services will be conducted from Antioch Church of the Brethren 11 a.m. Thursday with Pastor Eric Anspaugh and Steve Pasley, Minister officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Her family will receive friends 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at Flora Funeral Service & Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
