Durand Edgar McBride, age 92 of Rocky Mount died Saturday, February 9, 2008.
He was a U.S. Army veteran and a proud member of Redeeming Life Pentecostal Holiness Church.
Durand loved playing his guitar, singing, writing songs and poems, and making people laugh.
He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Elsie Lou Hall McBride; sister-in-law, Mary McBride; brother-in-law, Robert and Clara Hall; nieces and nephews, Arlene Hall, Faye and Ted Turner, John and Dorothy Hodges, Cathy and George Wray, Ellis and Joan Bolling; numerous other nieces, nephews and other family members and friends including his church family at Redeeming Life whom he loved.
Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 2 p.m. Tuesday with Rev. David Robertson and Rev. David Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Franklin Memorial Park.
Although the family appreciates your consideration in sending flowers, they would rather you consider making a memorial contribution to the Redeeming Life Pentecostal Holiness Church, 19295 Virgil H. Goode Hwy, Rocky Mount, Virginia 24151, which was a true love of his heart.
Friends may call after 3 p.m. Monday with his family receiving friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at Flora Funeral Service, 665 South Main Street, Rocky Mount.
