Earl Gray Foster, age 81 of Collinsville died Friday, March 12, 2010. He was a superb role model and a remarkable husband, father, and grandfather and will be missed dearly by his family. He was born April 12, 1928 in Franklin County a son of the late Claude and Flossie Foster. He was also preceded in death by his one brother, Sydney Foster. Earl was a World War II era Veteran serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps and the U.S. Air Force Reserve. He retired from E.I. DuPont with 40 years service and was a part time employee of the Martinsville Speedway from 1966 to 1996. He was an avid outdoorsman serving as a Cub Scout leader, and also attended Collinsville Church of the Brethren. Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Ruth J. Foster; three sons, David Foster, Thomas Foster and Robert Foster (Marce) all of Collinsville; a sister, Dorothy F. Bristow of Woodbridge, Va; and one granddaughter. Funeral services will be conducted from Flora Funeral Chapel 7 p.m. Sunday with Rev. Roy McVey officiating. Interment will be in the Rakes Family Cemetery, Ferrum 11 a.m. Monday.
