Earl Lee Sturgill

Earl Lee Sturgill, age 82 of Martinsville went to meet his Heavenly Father Thursday evening, August 17, 2017. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nancie Martin Sturgill on May 31, 2014. They were married November 21, 1953. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Pennie Lynn, son, Earl, Jr. and a granddaughter. Surviving are two grandsons and two granddaughters, numerous friends and loved ones. Earl loved Bluegrass music and playing the Mandolin, also his wife and children and helping others. He worked at the box factory and following his work at the box factory, he began construction work and landscaping. He was adopted by Mrs. Sturgill at the age of 6 and raised by the Jarvey Mitchell family, who took him in as a son and brother and loved him as their own family. Funeral services will be conducted at Flora Funeral Chapel, 2:00 p.m. Sunday with Pastor Mike Gallimore officiating. Interment will follow in the Boones Chapel Church of the Brethren Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
