Edgar Allen West, Sr.

Edgar Allen West, Sr., age 92 of Rocky Mount, Virginia passed away on June 15, 2023. Edgar was born on July 10, 1930 in Evington, Virginia. Mr. West graduated valedictorian of New London Academy. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict where he received the Bronze Star Medal. He retired from The Lane Company after 37 years.  He was an avid reader especially of history.  Mr. West loved the outdoors and spent much of his younger years hunting, fishing, and hiking.  He is survived by a daughter, Shearer Carroll West and her husband, Nicholas Sinclair Davidson, of Birmingham, England; a son, Edgar Allen West Jr., of Cary, North Carolina; in-laws Wanda Davis and Tammy West; and four grandchildren, Erin Grey West, Eleanor Carroll Davidson, Trenton Allen West, and Jason Ward West.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Theodore Roosevelt Conservation Partnership. Services will be private. Arrangements by Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
